Unique Coastal Forest Estate
The 70 acre estate along the sheltered eastern shore is home to old growth Douglas-firs and Cedar trees in one of the few remaining Douglas-fir biogeoclimatic zone forests of Vancouver Island. Take a woodland stroll into the Gardens to see the extensive collection of rare rhododendrons, thoughtfully integrated amongst native plants and towering Douglas-firs.
History
The fascinating tale of our Gardens
Between it's humble beginnings as a private estate in 1929 to it's opening to the public in 2001 under the ownership of Vancouver Island University, Veronica Milner had her Gardens featured in several books and magazines, bringing many notable guests to come experience it for themselves.
